Welcome to the Bee & Thistle Guest House
THE BEE & THISTLE IS A LOVELY 1908 HISTORIC HOME LOCATED IN THE VIBRANT COMMERCIAL DRIVE AREA OF VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA. THE OWNERS HAVE PAID UTMOST ATTENTION TO RETAINING AS MUCH OF THE OLD WORLD CHARACTER AS POSSIBLE, WHILE INCORPORATING THE PRIVACY, AMENITIES AND COMFORTS THAT WE’VE COME TO APPRECIATE IN OUR 21ST CENTURY WORLD. FROM THE MOMENT YOU ENTER THE HOME YOU WILL LOVE THE ORIGINAL STAINED GLASS, ANTIQUE WOODWORK AND VINTAGE WINDOWS AND LIGHTING. YOUR ROOM WILL DELIGHT YOU WITH YOUR OWN FIREPLACE, LUXURY LINENS, AN ANTIQUE DESK WITH A NET BOOK COMPUTER. THE ENSUITES IN EVERY ROOM ARE AN OASIS OF CALM, WITH CHANDELIERS, GORGEOUS TILE WORK, CUSTOM SHOWERS AND/OR A SOAKER OR CLAW FOOT TUB, AND HEATED TILE FLOORS. TWO OF OUR SUITES HAVE THEIR OWN KITCHENS, WITH THE “GARDEN RETREAT” BEING OUR NEWEST ADDITION.
The Bee & Thistle is very close to downtown Vancouver, has balconies on every floor with views of the city, north shore mountains and a distant peek at the Lions Gate bridge and Coal Harbour. Explore the wonderfully eclectic restaurants and shops of “the Drive”, sip a cool beverage at a sidewalk café, sample the flavours from the Italian coffee and gelato shops, or pick up some fresh fruit or flowers from the abundant sidewalk displays as you stroll up to the Broadway Skytrain station. The Skytrain provides easy access to downtown and/or on to the airport, the bus and train station, Science World, Burnaby and the Metrotown shopping center, Surrey, New Westminster with it’s wonderful antique row, and Coquitlam.
During your stay you will be pampered with a warm, friendly atmosphere that many of our guests say feels “just like home”, luxury linens, fluffy white towels, hand made soaps in “foodie” flavours such as Cinnamon Coffee, tea/coffee & delicious home made cookies, a small refrigerator in every room stocked with snacks, and much more. Although we will no longer be offering breakfast in 2016, we are located so close to all the wonderful restaurants on Commercial Drive that it’s fun to go out and explore the neighborhood in search of your favorite breakfast.
