Availability & Reservations:

Please note: A three night minimum is usually in effect, particularly for advance summer bookings, but please inquire anyway!

We are looking forward to welcoming travelers into our guest house again in 2016! This year we once again restructured our pricing in order to continue to reflect market changes. Current travel trends have seen a dramatic swing toward self catered, lower cost accommodation, typically accessed through various budget accommodation travel sites. While we understand the desire to manage the cost of travel, especially for people like us who love to get out and see the world as often as possible, we do also feel that every traveler hopes that the moderate price they spend will still provide them with a wonderful place to stay! If you book your stay at the Bee & Thistle this year, you will not only be assured of the excellence of the rooms and the location of our lovely old heritage house, based on feedback of our many guests over the past years of operating as a top rated B&B (see our listing on TripAdvisor), but you will also have available to you reduced nightly, weekly or monthly rates. Note, however, that in order to offer the prices you see below, we will no longer be offering breakfast in 2016.

Staying in this neighborhood and exploring the restaurants of Commercial Drive is an opportunity to experience the “real” Vancouver – vibrant, multi-cultural, and fun! This original Italian neighborhood of Vancouver has diversified into a foodie haven, with restaurants offering a wide variety of food options too numerous to list, but including a top rated French Bistro, numerous Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, African, Mexican, Jamaican, Belgian, Cuban, etc. etc, plus coffee shops, bakeries and the list goes on… We are always happy to assist with recommendations to fit with your taste and budget. Craft beer lovers – there are also several craft breweries nearby that have great tasting rooms (not for breakfast though!).

Please note:

“No Frills” rates include “light” housekeeping only, consisting of removing trash, providing fresh towels, etc.

“Self Cater” rates do not include housekeeping. However, we are available to assist with anything our guests require. “Weekly Rate” applies only to minimum 7 consecutive nights in the same room. “Monthly Rate” applies only to minimum 30 consecutive nights in the same room.

All rooms are furnished with a fridge, coffee maker, tea & coffee makers & supplies, etc., the Lions’ Loft & Garden Suite both have a full kitchen, a laundry room is available to our guests whenever our housekeeping staff is not using it. Of course, guests are welcome to use the lounge, dining rooms when available (see us). We, or our staff, are always available if there is anything you need.

High season: May 1 – September 30, 2016.
Low season:   October 1 – December 31, 2016.

Special Rates for Maiwa Students or Instructors:  10% discount for stays of two nights or more while attending or instructing a Maiwa course.

Please note that our prices shown below do not include tax, which combined Federal, Provincial & City taxes result in a total of 16% for accommodation in Vancouver.

Above rates are based on double occupancy per room. We unfortunately don’t currently have any rooms with more than one bed.

Much as we love animals, we must enforce a “no pets” rule.

We are a no smoking facility. Smoking on the premises is permitted only on our veranda or balcony and then only if no one else is using the veranda or balcony.


We require a deposit equal to the applicable room rate for one night (plus applicable taxes) in order to secure your reservation. The deposit will be refunded, less a $50 cancellation fee, subject to notice being provided via e-mail to yourhosts@beeandthistle.ca a minimum of fourteen (14) days prior to your scheduled check-in date.



If you have an allergy, please let us know prior to your arrival and we will do our best to accommodate your requirements.

Check In/Check Out/Left Luggage:

Check in time is between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. However, we try to be flexible so please contact us if you need to make alternative arrangements. We will do our best to accommodate you. Check out time is 11 a.m. We do our best to accommodate late checkouts but it’s often not possible if we have guests checking into the room the same day. However, guests are welcome to leave their luggage and use the common areas while waiting for later flights. If you require early luggage drop off, please let us know when you will be here so we can meet you. We will not accept responsibility for lost, damaged or stolen luggage.


Breakfast is no longer available in-house. However, we hope guests will enjoy exploring the great restaurants in the neighborhood!

Guest Parking:

We usually have available parking on the street in front of our house. Let us know if you have any problems finding parking but it rarely is an issue.

We will not be responsible for any omission, negligence or error due to website maintenance or difficulties. The property is privately owned and management reserves the right to refuse service to anyone and will not be responsible for accidents or injury to guests or for loss of money, jewellery, or any other valuables. The management reserves the right to assign and reassign the guest to such accommodation as the management sees fit. We operate under the Innkeepers Act. Management reserves the right to hold guests liable for undue damage to property. For your safety, please lock all doors, windows and front main entrance when coming and going.


Your privacy is very important to us! All disclosed information including your email address, name, company name, address, phone number or fax number will be used solely for the purposes of contacting you in reply to your requests for information or reservations availability and is not sold, rented or otherwise given to third parties and is divulged only when you request us to make a reservation. Personal information and/or credit card information is used solely for processing your payment.
