Thank you very much for considering the Bee & Thistle Guest House as your home away from home in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. Please take a moment to read the terms and conditions of this reservation.

Please note: A two-night minimum (3 nights for short term rental periods) is usually in effect, particularly for advance summer bookings, but please inquire anyway!

Pricing Options in 2014 (For 2015 we are accepting “no frills” option only at this time at 2014 rates):

Travel trends in recent years have seen a huge rise in popularity of websites offering very attractive, low rates in exchange for short term rentals in private homes or suites – simple accommodation and no breakfast. We also see a trend toward fitness, healthy eating, lighter meals, organic & locally grown food.  Many of our guests come to Vancouver for the fabulous food culture in our beautiful city, as well, and are excited to go out and experience our wonderful restaurants.   To keep in step, we have decided to offer more options in our pricing structure and breakfast choices for 2014.

Option #1 (3 weeks of every month): “Full Frills”, Including Continental Breakfast: Instead of increasing our rates in 2014, we are reducing them! 2014 rates are a $20 per night reduction from our 2013 full breakfast rates, but still include a lovely continental breakfast as outlined on the “Our Breakfasts” page. See our new, lower, standard rates below.

Option #2 (1 week of every month and upon request at other times): “No Frills” Best Value: Accommodation Only - An Additional $20 Reduction Per Night!!  The same luxury rooms in our wonderful old heritage house, the same great location, but exploring the myriad of nearby local restaurants for your breakfast (or the Loft has a full kitchen if you wish to self cater breakfast). Please note that this option has a minimum stay of 3 nights and does not include housekeeping (but let us know if you need anything, of course). To take advantage of the lower rates during our “Accommodation Only” periods, please select the following dates in our calendar (or email us your request and/or make a note in the “comments” section of the reservation to receive the same great rates at other times):

Option #3 – “Some Frills” – No Breakfast But Include Light Housekeeping“:  $15 per night reduction from Option #1 Rates. Each day we will provide fresh towels as required and empty wastebaskets. We do not make the bed, vacuum or refresh the bathroom. 

Special Rates for Maiwa Students or Instructors:  10% discount for stays of two nights or more while attending or instructing a Maiwa course, plus further $10 per night discount if single occupancy.

Above rates are based on double occupancy per room. We welcome children and families, space permitting. Any additional guests four years old and older, in the same room, will be charged $50/person/night. However, due to space limitations in the dining room, we can only accept two persons per room from April 1st to October 31st.

Much as we love animals, we must enforce a “no pets” rule.

We are a no smoking facility. Smoking on the premises is permitted only on our veranda or balcony and then only if no one else is using the veranda or balcony.


We require a deposit equal to the applicable room rate for one night (plus applicable taxes) in order to secure your reservation. The deposit will be refunded, less a $50 cancellation fee, subject to notice being provided via e-mail to yourhosts@beeandthistle.ca a minimum of fourteen (14) days prior to your scheduled check-in date.



If you have a food allergy, please let us know prior to your arrival and we will do our best to accommodate your requirements. However, we do use nuts and a wide variety of ingredients in our kitchen and cannot guarantee that our food will not have been in contact with them.

Check In/Check Out/Left Luggage

Check in time is between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. However, we try to be flexible so please contact us if you need to make alternative arrangements. We will do our best to accommodate you. Check out time is 11 a.m. A late check out may be available for an additional fee. If you require early luggage drop off, please let us know when you will be here so we can meet you. We will not accept responsibility for lost, damaged or stolen luggage.


Breakfast is served at 8:30 AM. For early departures, we will be happy to provide you with a continental breakfast to eat in your room or take with you if you booked under Option #1 above.

Guest Parking

We usually have available parking on the street in front of our house. Let us know if you have any problems finding parking.

We will not be responsible for any omission, negligence or error due to website maintenance or difficulties. The property is privately owned and management reserves the right to refuse service to anyone and will not be responsible for accidents or injury to guests or for loss of money, jewellery, or any other valuables. The management reserves the right to assign and reassign the guest to such accommodation as the management sees fit. We operate under the Innkeepers Act. Management reserves the right to hold guests liable for undue damage to property. For your safety, please lock all doors, windows and front main entrance when coming and going.


Your privacy is very important to us! All disclosed information including your email address, name, company name, address, phone number or fax number will be used solely for the purposes of contacting you in reply to your requests for information or reservations availability and is not sold, rented or otherwise given to third parties and is divulged only when you request us to make a reservation. Personal information and/or credit card information is used solely for processing your payment.
